When first released in 1995, the Maxwell Freedom rope/chain anchor winch revolutionised the global marine market in terms of performance and reliability. It's innovative, compact design and elegant styling has made the Freedom windlass the primary choice of both boat builders and boat owners around the world.

The success of the Freedom Series created demand in the boating market for a more powerful automatic rope/chain windlass for use on vessels up to 20 metres (65 feet). Maxwell responded with their Liberty Series. Building on the knowledge gained from the Freedom Series, Maxwell broke the design barriers once again and developed a windlass with no less than three internationally patented features.

Maxwell has also continued to evolve its existing range of proven windlasses and capstans. The VC300 Fast, a variation of the highly successful VC500 capstan, was recently introduced to satisfy the need for small boat, deep anchoring fishermen who demanded quick recovery of their rode and anchor so they could quickly get to that next fishing spot.

Maxwell's ongoing commitment to product development can also be seen in their highly popular VWC1200, an industry stalwart since the early nineties. The VWC1200 all chain windlass was always a great performer and now, with advanced engineering features incorporated into its design, it works even better.

The new millennium has bought with it new opportunities. Larger superyachts mean larger winches. In response, Maxwell has launched the first of their "SY' Superyacht series of windlasses, as well as a growing range of new and innovative Superyacht deck gear. With the opportunity to customise the end product, Maxwell Superyacht clients enjoy further flexibility in the design and installation of the ultimate anchoring solution
